One year stats-
Nolan: 23.8 pounds- 65th percentile
28.94 inches- 23rd percentile
Mackay: 23.37 pounds -59th percentile
28.54 inches -13th percentile
Bottom line- we still have short chubby little boys and it is awesome! They have only gained four pounds since they were six months old... that's how fat they were. Hahaha
We had another neurology visit for Nolan and the doctor says he is doing great. Once we get him walking (which he's not far from doing) they are just going to keep an eye on him for another year to make sure nothing changes and he doesn't stop using his left hand or anything... but walking is the milestone that basically means his dead brain tissue will not effect him, at all! We are so excited and so proud. Every step he takes on a normal schedule, just like his brother and any other baby his age is a HUGE sigh of relief! He will be able to pitch in the majors and run the bases like any one else!
Here are the personality break downs!
NOLAN-
Nolan is so goofy. He just thinks he's really funny. He does things just to be goofy.
He still gets drifts into his own little world. He will find toys that have moving parts, just something little, and sit and fiddle with them for twenty minutes at a time... just opening and closing a door.
He hates crawling when something is in his way... he will swat or throw it out of his path as he is crawling.
Nolan fights nap time more than Mackay these days, but can basically sleep in any position. Once he's out... he's out.
We bought them little Lightening McQueen cars, and it's Nolan's favorite toy.
Loves having his picture taken, and always wants to grab the camera.
He gets so excited and so proud of himself while he's trying to walk, that he speeds up and falls into your lap when he reaches you. He stays up on his toes because he's going to fast to put his heels down.
He's learned that if he walks from one person to another, usually they turn him around to walk back... it's his favorite game and as soon as he gets to your arms, he's turning around to go back. It's great practice.
Has one tooth, which he got because he fell and hit his gums on a table and split them open and one came in. It's on the upper left side of his mouth, right next two where his two front teeth would be.
Nolan is more of a trouble maker than we thought he would be and he ignores you better than any child I have ever seen. He knows when you are going to tell him no, so he just won't acknowledge that you are speaking to him. And on the occasion that he does acknowledge you, he does it anyway.
List of words includes: daddy, Lady, doggie, mamama, Daday (Mackay), no no no no, e-i e-i-oh and will occasionally say more and Mickey (if his brother does) -He doesn't say them all all the time, but they are all in there and when he really wants you to know, he will tell you.
MACKAY-
Mackay is our little comedian. Nolan just likes to be goofy, but Mackay wants to make you laugh.
He loves to play with his brother, mama, or daddy... or Lady. He loves to walk up to you and then turn around and go back in the other direction.
He's not crawling so much anymore, he's pretty much got this walking thing down, but he will still crawl with things underneath him. He doesn't care at all.
Mackay has to hold onto his blanket or Mickey while he sleeps, and his arm has to be on top of the blanket.
He is obsessed with his Mickey Mouse. He takes him everywhere and even sleeps with him. He carries him by both ears or by the arm.
Mackay has decided he hates cameras. If mama tries to take a picture, he will look the other way. When anyone else tries to take a picture, he cries.
He finally has this walking thing down and he LOVES it. He walks everywhere. He can't get himself up from the floor, so he still has to crawl to something and climb up, but once he's up, there is no stopping him.
Zero teeth.
Hates to be in trouble. If you tell him not to do something, he won't do it (unless you are trying to keep him from eating rocks, he will still put them in his mouth). If you tell him "no, no" he will repeat it as he walks away.
List of words includes: Hi, daddy, Lady, doggie, mama, Nonan (Nolan) no no no no, Mickey, ball, and e-i e-i-oh. -He doesn't say them all all the time, but they are all in there and when he really wants you to know, he will tell you.
Both boys love throwing food on the floor for Lady. They LOVE Mickey Mouse, especially Mackay and if they hear the words "Hot Dog" they will look up and find whoever said it. We can always get them to calm down or focus on eating by turning on any song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. They LOVE books and reading... especially Nolan. They love the books where they can touch and feel things, animals, tractors, etc. They love open mouths, they think they are really funny. They love watching cars drive by and will watch them until they can't see them anymore. The love chicken nuggets and french fries, we can pretty much always get them to eat those two things, they also love yogurt, chocolate, anything pumpkin (which we have a lot because mama likes it too), goldfish, baby cereal (the only baby food they still eat), fruit (Mackay has days when he doesn't but overall he loves fruit) and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Here are some pictures from the last month...
