Five Months

This is probably the most on time update we've ever done, haha.  The boys turned five months old on leap day!  (Pictures will come in another post again, sorry).

Five Months-

The boys have started showering with mom and love it.  They don't quite know what to do when they get misted on their faces but once it stops they think it's pretty funny.  They lay at the back of the tub and talk and laugh and splash when the water gets deep enough (before mom drains it to let it fill up again).

They had two weeks where they both woke up at 3:30 am every night and every half hour thereafter until mom finally brought them into bed with her and dad.  Then we bought Johnson's Baby Bedtime Lotion and it has changed our lives... granted the boys slept really well from the time Nolan got home from the hospital, but it got a little rough for a few nights.  Now they sleep amazingly well, until usually about 7 am.

They are still trying really hard to sit by themselves and do a really good job until they get excited and try to kick their feet and fall backward.  Nolan sits better than Mackay.

They hate tummy time.  Mom puts them on their tummies to burp them, and that's about all they can handle.  Any other time, Nolan will immediately roll himself onto his back, and Mackay will scoot around about 45 degrees trying really hard to figure out how to get off his tummy until he realizes he can roll over or gets upset enough that mom or dad turn him over.  He'll probably crawl before Nolan, he's already a very good scooter.

They have learned to talk a language other than spitting and drooling and blowing their lips together, and it's so cute.

We gave them green beans for the first time (something other than bottle or baby cereal... something with an actual taste) and they LOVED them.  Mom is making baby food, because it saves so much money and is much healthier, so they ate real people food and couldn't get enough.

They are starting to reach for and grab things a lot and everything goes into their mouths.

Mackay loves his brother.  He gets very concerned when he cries and always has to find him.  We are pretty sure he'll do whatever his brother does when they get bigger.  He's become more of a mama's boy lately and has been pretty snugly, which we love.  He eats absolutely everything.  He will to grab food, TV remotes, your face, or anything else in that is placed in front of him and try to put it in his mouth then proceed to drool all over it.

Nolan is protective of his little brother.  If he gets scared he'll through his arm across his brother's chest until he's sure everything is ok.  Nolan is a little more insecure and has his hands tightly grasped in front of him a lot.    He loves to kick his feet and we think he'll be quite the little runner.  Is not quite as interested in toys or putting anything in his mouth other than his hands.  If he decides to grab something, it goes in his mouth, he just doesn't care as much.

Both boys LOVE our dog.  All she has to do is walk by them and they laugh.  They love playing fetch with her... it's pretty funny.

The neurologist says that Nolan is doing all of the things he needs to be doing right now.  We are so happy.  We will go back every three months until he is one, then six months, and sometime between the ages of two and three he will need another MRI, just to make sure everything is still ok.  Now we really just need to get through crawling and walking and everything should be just fine.  We couldn't be happier.

These boys are so happy and smiley all the time.  Nolan's occupational therapist said that they are probably the happiest, smiliest babies he's ever seen.  We love them.
